TOA Corporation UK, the leading global manufacturer of cutting edge commercial audio and security equipment, has announced a new addition to its continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio, with the introduction of the Voice Alarm Standards and Systems Design course. Written by experts within the company, it is designed to give mechanical and electrical (M&E) consultants all the information they need on these important subjects by examining standards and regulations, as well as explaining the key considerations when it comes to designing a voice alarm system.
Building on the success of the company’s existing training activities and led by one of TOA Corporation UK’s technology specialists, the Voice Alarm Standards and Systems Design course begins with an ‘all you need to know’ guide to BS 5839 and EN 54 compliance. It provides a comprehensive overview of how these standards impact upon the specification, installation and maintenance of voice alarm systems.
It then goes on to explore the increasingly sophisticated technology behind these systems by discussing the various voice alarm categories, the respective benefits of using centralised and decentralised systems, and giving examples of appropriate applications for each. The importance of battery selection and standby power availability is also addressed, as is how to design loudspeaker circuits and interpret loudspeaker specifications in order to ensure the best possible system intelligibility. Delegates will receive expert instruction on all aspects of design and installation, as well as best practice techniques that enable the latest monitoring methods to be adopted.
To make attendance as easy and convenient as possible, the Voice Alarm Standards and Systems Design course can be presented during a lunch break at a delegate’s premises. Around 30 minutes to an hour in duration, there is also the option of a Q&A session, where the course leader will be able to provide answers to any questions and explain areas of specific interest in more detail.
‘Knowing how to correctly design and specify voice alarm systems to the relevant standards is vital, and the Voice Alarm Standards and Systems Design CPD course highlights our commitment to sharing our world class expertise whenever we can,’ commented Malcolm Crummey, sales manager UK & Ireland at TOA Corporation UK. ‘M&E consultants must continuously acquire new knowledge and skills in order to remain at the cutting edge of what they do. I would therefore urge anyone involved with voice alarms to arrange for us to visit them at their premises, so they can find out the latest developments and best practice techniques in this area.’
