Muratec’s
new multifunctionals now available with OfficeBridge workgroup
solution
Muratec,
the multifunction specialist company, has launched the MFX-2200OB
and MFX-2700OB multifunctionals which include OfficeBridge, Muratec’s
a low cost document management solution for workgroups.
OfficeBridge allows the MFX-2200OB and MFX-2700OB multifunctionals
to provide a powerful network solution for sharing documents between
a workgroup of up to 100 users. OfficeBridge Plus provides network
print, network scan, scan to e-mail, Internet fax, desktop fax
and workflow management functionality all in one simple to use
application.
Because OfficeBridge uses a web browser interface, it is completely
independent of computer operating systems and network protocols,
making it easy and economical to install. The use of a familiar
web browser interface also makes OfficeBridge intuitive and simple
to understand so users can get the benefits of OfficeBridge straight
away with the minimum of training.
The use of OfficeBridge with the MFX-2200OB and MFX-2700OB multifunctionals
requires no user licence costs or renewal charges, unlike some
network fax and printing options, making it a very cost-effective
solution for document network sharing and printing.
The MFX-2200OB and MFX-2700OB multifunctionals can be used as
a powerful network scanner with OfficeBridge. Users can scan documents
to their personal OfficeBridge inbox and then save the document.
Documents can also be forwarded externally as an e-mail attachment.
OfficeBridge can also scan directly across a network for archival
purposes, generating a file in a TIFF or PDF format, with an index
file giving details of when, where and who created the document
(scan to file). Users can choose from an automatic preset file
name or create one manually. Network scanning allows a permanent
electronic record to be made of important paper documents saving
on filing space and increasing security.

Muratec
dealer event launches the ‘Perfect Partner’
Muratec,
the multifunction specialist company, recently held a dealer partner
event at the prestigious Stoke Park golf club in Berkshire to
launch the new MFX-2200 and MFX-2700 multifunctionals. The venue
was the location of the famous golf match between James Bond and
Goldfinger and the Muratec event’s Bond theme provided the
right atmosphere of glamour and sophistication for dealer partners.
Muratec’s new direction as the ‘Perfect
Partner’ was launched to existing and prospective dealers
in a series of lively presentations. Muratec’s new partner
pricing structure proved to be particularly attractive to the
audience with the company signing several new dealer partners
as a result.
An important part of the message was that dealers
can make real margins with a four-figure profit possible on the
latest Muratec multifunctionals, the MFX-2200 and MFX-2700. As
Muratec consumables are not widely available dealer partners can
also make significant margins on supplies.
In addition Muratec unveiled some exciting
partner sales incentives with all Muratec dealer principals eligible
for an all expenses paid sales incentive trip to Prague this year.
Muratec unit sales also qualify for the Casino Royale competition
for prizes that include cruise holidays, high-definition TVs,
free flights and other goodies.
Muratec is on an active recruit drive to attract
new dealers, as Stewart Carroll, the company’s UK General
Manager explained at the conference, “We now have the infrastructure
in place where we can meet the demands of a larger reseller channel
and we want to expand our dealer base. Our sales team has a brief
to establish UK coverage of around 150 dealers, so we are keen
to hear from any prospective reseller partners.”

Minolta Bizhub PRO1050e Now Has Perfect Binder Option
Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK)
Ltd has launched the bizhub PRO 1050e with enhanced finishing
options including the new PB-501 perfect binder unit. The introduction
of the PB-501 means that the bizhub PRO 1050e can now output stitched
or perfect bound A4 trimmed booklets with covers at the machine’s
full rated production speed of 6,300 impressions an hour, ensuring
high-productivity for reprographic departments and generating
profit for commercial printers.
The PB-501 integrates hotmelt gluing technology into a fully automated,
perfect binding production process providing output flexibility
paired with attractive low running costs. Hotmelt gluing guarantees
outstanding reliability for perfect binding. Even in books of
several hundred pages, each individual sheet is bound so securely
that manuals, handbooks, reports and so on will still hold firm
after constant use. At the same time, the hotmelt process is extremely
flexible, enabling automatic production of books with varying
thickness.
Sheets can be bound between a minimum of 15 sheets (30 pages)
and up to a maximum 30mm spine width (300 sheets/600 pages when
80 gsm is used), including z-folded sheets. Automatic in-line
trimming of covers to the exact size required ensures sophisticated
print products every time. As no additional trimming is required,
this allows the bizhub PRO 1050e to print and perfect bind documents
at the system’s full rated speed of 6,300 impressions an
hour.
The bizhub PRO 1050e produces 105 A4 prints per minute and is
designed as a complete document production system with optional
on-line print finishing units for six-way folding, booklet making
and post inserting. The bizhub PRO 1050e can print variable data
onto substrates up to SRA3 (320 by 450mm) in size. Output can
be onto substrates up to 300 gsm thick for simplex print or 244
gsm for duplex output. The bizhub PRO 1050 has been specifically
designed for high productivity with a steel chassis to keep it
stable for average monthly volumes of 300,000 to 500,000 A4 sheets
and up to a maximum of 1.5 million.

Muratec
Launches UI Programme For Next Generation Multifunctionals
Muratec, the multifunction specialist
company, has instituted the Usability Improvement (UI) programme
for the development of the next generation of Muratec multifunctional
imaging systems. The programme slogan is ‘More User-friendly
Products for Everybody’, and has the aim of developing products
that are easier to use through ergonomic analysis.
The UI programme will begin with an analysis of existing products
by a group consisting of specialists in marketing, customer support,
product planning, and engineering. The goal is to identify usability
improvement. The UI programme members will thoroughly examine
potential areas for improvement by interviewing customers and
carrying out on-site tests with some users.
Information gained in the process will be used to make all Muratec
products more user-friendly.
Commenting on the premises move Stewart Carroll, General Manager
of Muratec Europe (UK) said, “The ultimate goal of the programme
is to incorporate user-friendly features and operability improvements
at the product development stage, making planning process more
customer-oriented. At Muratec we see product improvement as an
ongoing process and the UI programme will assist us in producing
the next generation of multifunction systems”.
