Announce Export & Membership Appointments
The
Fire Industry Association (FIA) has further strengthened its position
as the unified voice for the fire industry with the announcement
of two further appointments at its Kingston secretariat.
Wilf Butcher has been appointed as the new Export Manager of the
FIA. Wilf, himself a former Chairman of the Fire Industry Confederation
(FIC) and an independent consultant within the fire industry,
brings a wealth of experience to the role.
The Export dimension of the association has grown significantly
in recent years and is likely to expand even further as the commonality
of fire safety issues and standards, particularly across Europe,
becomes even greater.
Commenting on his appointment Wilf said – “Having
taken a pro-active interest in the FIA Export Focal Point since
its inception I am delighted to be given the opportunity to take
on the role of its Export Manager. The FIA Focal Point has achieved
considerable success for its Export Council members and the fire
industry at large in developing and expanding awareness of ‘Fire
UK’ in many overseas markets, a trend which I aim to continue.”
Also appointed to the new position of Head of Membership Services
is Janet Willingham. Janet is by far the longest serving member
of the Secretariat staff, bringing to her new position an excellent
understanding of the needs of the membership and how the FIA can
help in fulfilling those needs. In her new role Janet will be
the main contact point for member companies and will also administer
the new membership drive campaign, working closely with secretariat
colleagues to build FIA membership. Janet comments – “During
my time with the Kingston secretariat I have regularly liased
with many members and this has given me a real insight into what
they are looking for from their membership. We already have many
tangible benefits to belonging to the FIA but I will be working
hard in this new role to re-examine and build upon them so that
we can further develop our offering.”
