Spitfire
is UK top 5 SDSL provider
Spitfire,
the leading voice and data solution provider, is now one of the
top five providers of SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
services in the UK according to SDSL wholesale suppliers BT and
Easynet.
A key factor in Spitfire’s SDSL success
is its cost-effective pricing structure. Spitfire’s SDSL
offering has an entry level cost of only £75 a month for
the highest contention 2Mbps broadband link rising to £299
a month for an uncontended 2Mbps link and all SDSL circuits allow
uncapped usage. The uncontended ratio is highly suitable for business
quality Voice over IP applications and other uses requiring guaranteed
high bandwidth such as video links.
SDSL is distinguished from the more usual ADSL
(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) because it provides an equivalent
bandwidth for both upload and download broadband access. With
ADSL upload bandwidth is substantially less (normally a contended
256Kbps). SDSL has proved to be highly attractive to many types
of business, including media and graphics organisations such as
advertising agencies and commercial printers where large files
have to be uploaded as well as downloaded across the Internet.
Commenting on the top five SDSL placing, Susie
Ward, Marketing Director for Spitfire said, “As a top tier
ISP Spitfire is delighted that its SDSL service is proving so
popular with customers. Many organisations now require a higher
upstream bandwidth if they are creating a Wide Area Network between
sites or e-mailing large attachments or using FTP to transfer
large data files. SDSL offers many of the advantages formerly
only obtainable from a Private Circuit with an entry-level monthly
cost at a fraction of the price.”

Spitfire Introduces
Customer Web Billing
Spitfire,
the leading voice and data solution provider, is introducing on-line
billing for customers from June 2007. The aim is to provide more
flexible billing information with greater customisation. There
are also additional environmental benefits, from saving paper
usage and cutting down printer emissions.
As well as a summary invoice customers will
be able to select a number of reports for their organisation’s
comms usage:
Rental, detailed
Destination, summary
Itemised (above minimum call spend)
Special reports including:
- Most expensive calls
- Longest duration calls
- Most frequently dialled numbers
- Individual numbers with most expenditure
Reports can be viewed on screen or printed off
in PDF format. Spitfire will continue to supply a single sheet,
summary printed invoice by post.
Security is always a great concern when confidential
information is made available on the web and this has been a paramount
consideration in the development of Spitfire’s on-line billing
service. Precautions include an account access code that will
change monthly and will be supplied to customers on their printed
invoice by post.
Georgina Baines, Customer Services Director
for Spitfire says of the new web billing system, “We are
continually seeking to improve our service levels to customers
and billing provision is under constant review because our consolidated
billing platform is an important part of our customer service.
Providing billing information on-line allows customers access
to as much or as little information as they require, so they can
tailor the information to their particular needs. This means we
are not printing billing reports that customers may not want,
while we are providing detailed information and reporting for
those customers that require it.”
