Paxton
Access Wins PSI Premier Award
The UK’s market leading access control manufacturer Paxton
Access has won the ‘PSI Premier Award for Access Control
Manufacturer of the Year 2008’. Nominations for the awards
are decided by professional installation companies; their votes
also decide the final winner.
“We are delighted to have won this award and would like
to thank all those installation companies who voted for us. At
Paxton Access we are committed to providing great products and
service to installation companies, we will continue in our efforts
to exceed expectations in both areas,” Trish Bambury, Marketing
Manager.
Seeing off stiff competition to win an award for the second year
running highlights the popularity of Paxton Access’ easy
to use products and their industry leading support. Each system,
Compact, Switch2 and Net2, is simple to install and exceptionally
straightforward to administer; helping to make Paxton Access the
first choice for access control.
Also key to Paxton Access’ success is their ability to deliver
exceptional customer service. So much so, that they post all customer
feedback, good and bad, directly onto their website. Another major
contributing factor to their success is reliability of their systems.
In fact, Paxton Access is so confident in the build quality of
their equipment that they offer a full 5 year product guarantee.
Trellidor Plus achieves Top LPCB Security Rating
Security
specialists Trellicor have achieved the prestigious Loss Prevention
Certification Board’s Security Rating Level 1 approval to
Issue 6 of LPS1175 for their Trellidor Plus retractable grille
– making Trellicor the only grille manufacturer to achieve
this quality standard in the UK.
The LPCB’s thorough evaluation process included the use
of a wrecking bar, as opposed to tyre levers used in previous
evaluations. The tool was no match for the Trellidor Plus, which
easily withstood attempts.
To celebrate the achievement, Trellicor are offering free upgrades
to Trellidor Plus for any customers buying Trellidor A200 grilles
before the end of June 2008*.
Trellicor’s retractable grilles are sold in over 40 countries
around the world. In the UK, Trellidor Plusses have been tested
by many unwitting burglars who have been fortunately confounded
by the grilles.
Riding
High in East Yorkshire – Multi Agency Operation a Success
Investigators from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and officers
from Humberside Police and East Riding of Yorkshire Council carried
out checks on door staff working on licensed premises across the
East Riding area on Friday 6 June.
9 licensed premises were visited in Goole, Hessle, Beverley and
Bridlington.
27 door supervisors were checked and all were licensed.
However, three individuals were warned for the offence of not
displaying their licence.
Jacqueline Parker, an SIA Head of Investigation said: “The
results from this operation are very positive. The majority of
door staff were complying with the law and recognise the importance
and value of holding a valid SIA licence. However, it was a little
disappointing to find three door staff not observing licence conditions.
The licence provides reassurance for the public that the holder
is trained, qualified and professional.”
“We’d like to thank our partners at Humberside Police
and East Riding of Yorkshire Council for working with us and we
will continue with our visits to ensure that only SIA licensed
door staff work in positions of trust.”
PC Chris Chapman at Humberside Police said: “There has been
much hard work carried out in recent months within the East Riding
area to ensure that those persons operating as door staff aresuitable,
qualified and holders of the SIA licence. The results of the joint
initiative are very positive and licensed premises must be given
credit for their partnership work with the Police, East Riding
council and the SIA. Joint visits will continue in the future
and those premises operating legally have nothing to fear.”
SIA
and Partners Target Dunbarton’s Rogue Security
Multi-agency operation in West Dunbartonshire
Investigators from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) joined
officers from Strathclyde Police and investigators from the Department
for Work and Pensions (DWP) to target rogue security firms and
unlicensed security activity.
Checks were carried out to ensure that companies providing security
at construction sites across the West Dunbartonshire area were
working legally and only deploying SIA licensed security operatives.
During the intelligence-led operation: 6 security sites were visited,
13 individuals were checked, 6 security guards were being deployed
lawfully, 1 security guard was arrested pending further enquires.
6 unlicensed operatives, aged between 22 and 61 were reported
for working without an SIA licence (a Section 3 offence), 3 people
were reported for possible DWP offences, with investigations continuing
Christy Hopkins, an SIA Head of Investigation said: “It
is important that the Scottish construction industry takes more
significant steps to ensure that only SIA licensed operatives
protect their security sites. Failure to do so could lead to the
prosecution of both the employee and their employer.
“We will continue to work with our partners at Strathclyde
Police and DWP to help drive out criminality and drive up standards
in security provision.”
