Equipment & Workwear supplier Arco rises to the challenge
of equipping multi-million pound bakery’s new premises
Expanding
its capacity to supply an array of freshly prepared, local produce
to wholesale and retail operations throughout Scotland, family-run
bakery firm JG Ross has invested £4.2m in a brand-new, purpose
built premises at Highclere business park in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
To furnish the site with janitorial, hygiene and health &
safety products and equipment, and staff with a new range of smart
corporate clothing and work wear, JG Ross turned to a local branch
of another specialised, family-run business: Arco.
JG Ross’s Sales and Marketing Manager Susi Coutts explained,
‘The new site incorporates a bakery, coffee shop, dedicated
controlled areas for sandwich and pie/ready meal production, coffee
shop, take-away and a retail outlet, which has led to an increase
in staff of 46 people, taking the total amount of employees to
approx 380. The facilities were meticulously planned to enhance
the health, safety and welfare of all our personnel in addition
to increasing our business potential. Utilising over fifty years
of the Ross family’s experience, the invaluable input of
our personnel, the advice and experience of other commercial bakeries
and the expertise of key suppliers, we have installed new machinery,
equipment and products that create a state-of-the-art working
environment. We enlisted the help of Arco because as well as being
the UK’s leading safety equipment and workwear supplier,
it shares our ethos of family values and corporate social responsibility,
and offers the personal customer service of a local branch.’

Arco’s expanding 32-strong UK branch network - Sales Manager
Bill Cummings and main Arco contact Telephone Development Manager
Angela Walmsley were delighted when JG Ross enlisted their services
at the design stage of the bakery’s new premises. ‘Being
involved right from the start enabled us to give advice and guidance
in the development and specification process,’ said Angela.
‘We worked hard to source optimum products and equipment
at the best prices and orchestrated collaboration between our
customer and equipment manufacturers so that JG Ross could benefit
fully from their expertise. We made several visits to the site
with specialists from suppliers. Consequently, we were able to
deliver the high level of service required and fulfil the order
for a wide range of specialist products and equipment.’
